Monsanto claims that the ever-increasing consumption of GMOs by millions of people inherently implies safety. It is virtually impossible to determine long-term health effects of GM products on the human body, as most studies on the safety of these products are done on a short-term basis and are never performed on humans. The impact of GMOs upon human health has not yet been carried out in rigorous, double-blind scientific studies. Monsanto has made numerous claims about the safety of their seeds and GM products. For example, the DDT pesticide was put on the market after being assessed and approved for safety by Monsanto. This chemical is now known to cause cancers, trigger autoimmune diseases and reduce the quality and length of life of millions of people. Governmental agencies have afforded Monsanto the powder to police their own research and draw their own interpretations regarding GMO food safety - this is like allowing the tobacco industry to regulate themselves...opps!
A GMO scientists said, and I paraphrase, "if GMOs were not safe people would be dropping like flies". My response to this is, "it has not yet been determined the contribution of disease risk that GMOs may have imposed upon our society and our ever increasing disease incidence and poorer quality of life."
Dr. Michael Wald, author of his new book, Frankenfoods - Controversy, Lies & Your Health (available at Amazon.com), offers a riveting perspective of the GMO predicament exploring governmental and industry cover-ups, health dangers, environmental threats, GMO-free food plans and recipes, nutritional supplements and other practical solutions. Dr. Wald declares, "The GMO dilemma is here to stay and anyone interested in protecting their health and that of their loved ones, friends and the planet, must educate themselves and take political and personal action right now!" Considering the importance of this information Dr. Wald asks that you re-tweet his GMO links and follow him on Twitter - @DrMichaelWald. Thank you.
